Napkin Technique author(s):carebears
Craft lesson has never been able to spark great interest in me... But... I LOVE napkin technique! It is sooooFUN and definitely much more easier than SEWING...
Materials needed:
Beautiful Napkins
Wooden boxes, ceramics or glass
Special glue (not sure of its name but the picture is below)
Acrylic paint (LOTS and lots of white)
Cheap large surface paint brush
Sponge
Hair dryer
The EASY steps:
Select some beautiful napkins. Cut out the designs.
Coat the surface of your box with acrylic paint using sponge. Preferably with a light tone colour.
Dry with a dryer. Repeat step 2 and 3 at least 3 times.
Remove layers of napkins. Decide where to put the cut out designs.
Dip brush with special glue and paint on surface of napkin. Dry with dryer.
A very fun activity to do with the little ones! Will definitely try it out with Zyeera during the December holidays.
Eliz's work... NICE!
There is also the fabric painting which can be done on any fabric with a fabric paint. I went to Mustaffa Centre (My one stop centre to find anything. It's 24 hours! Very useful if you suddenly find something missing on the night before microteaching) and bought a set of 15 colour fabric paint and a set of fabric crayons. Both only add up to $14.95. Cheap stuff...
I enjoyed painting the butterfly on book cover as well. But I haven't had the chance to take a picture of that. Instead i have some pics on the teacher's sample. Anyway, I proposed to my GESL group to do fabric painting as one of the activity in the camp we will be organising. I'm sure the children will enjoy it!

MicroTeaching1- Meals for children in day care author(s):carebears
Hello! Today I wanna share what I feel about a particular dish during the first microteaching. The theme was food for children at the day care centre. The dish that I particularly liked was taught by our dear friend, Farah! She taught us to make chicken nuggets of various shapes...! Guess what?! It was so easy that I tried it at home! That day after preparing I could not taste as I was fasting so when I tried making at home, it was YUMMYLICIOUS! It took me less than half an hour to get everything ready and served on the table! Zyeera likes it but I did not allow her to eat more than 3 as i found it oily..
I found a similar recipe that uses prawns instead of chicken in the book that Miss Soo recommended, the one that cost $15. My husband and I tried the substituition of chicken with tiger prawns! We seasoned the prawns with salt and sugar instead of salt and pepper. The results..... YUMMY! And you all know how juicy tiger prawns are! *Drooling*
We were deep frying late at night, very early in the morning around 12+ to 1AM... So you can imagine the calories expanding in my body! Oh man... I'm so not going to look good in the ready made sari that I plan to wear to an indian wedding.. Haiz.., 10 push up per night, gradually increase the number... Well prolly I would still be able to shed the fats at the abdomen area.
The other dishes that were prepared during the 1st microteaching were pasta and cupcakes. The pasta was easy to make too but mine and zul's turn out like a soup instead... The picture is below... We like it soupy eh Zul?!?! Haha..
As for the cupcakes... It's my first time trying out the icing decorations! Well i think it takes a lot of practice to get a nice decoration but yeah i still do enjoy it! i like the thick chocolaty taste!
PS: pardon me for the lack of pics in this post.. Just this picture took me a while to upload.

Zuzi
